E-Script Issues

If you are advised by the pharmacy assistant or sales person that there are no repeats remaining on your e-prescription, it is important to check:

Prescription Details: Ensure that the prescription was initially issued with repeats. This information can be found on your prescription. Please check at every appointment so you know how many were issued. It is your child’s right for the medication prescribed to be dispensed. However you may need to argue with your pharmacist t

Pharmacy Records: Sometimes, there may be a misunderstanding or error in the pharmacy’s records or dispensing system. It’s beneficial to confirm with them how many repeats were originally dispensed and how many have been used. They can check on ScriptCheck SA if it is a Schedule 8 medication (Most ADHD scripts).

There is also an app available now for users which links directly to the Active Script List. It’s called Scripty https://www.getscripty.io/

It’s free but does need the person to activate their MySL – the pharmacy link to their records in the cloud, so the pharmacy can generate an activation code in Medview Flow, which is the software which e-scripts are scanned into. The activation permission for MySL can be for just one day and not forever. The app also shows which pharmacy was the last to dispense the script. It’s very new so some pharmacies may not yet be aware.

Message “This Prescription Has Already Been Dispensed”:
This message typically occurs when the e-script token has not been issued after the medication was last dispensed by the pharmacy. Here’s what you can do:

Return to the Original Pharmacy: If you receive this error, please visit the pharmacy where you initially filled your prescription. They have the ability to re-issue a repeat token for your medication. Please ensure you speak with the pharmacist if advised that the sales person is unable to assist.

Pharmacy Consultation: Speak with the pharmacist about the error message. They can provide specific insights and rectify any issues with the repeat token of your e-prescription.

General Tips:
Keep a Record: Always keep a note of where you have your prescription dispensed, which can simplify the process of managing repeats.

Pharmacy Communication: Establishing a good relationship with your pharmacy can help prevent and quickly resolve these types of issues.

When to Contact Us:
If after attending the pharmacy who last issued the script and speaking with a pharmacist, you are unable to resolve the issue, please contact our office. An email to us AND to the pharmacist can be helpful, then we can email chat to try to resolve the issue.

It’s important to note that given many of the medications we prescribe are controlled, there are strict regulations surrounding prescribing and all efforts to resolve this must be attempted prior to issuing a new script for monitoring purposes.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact us to arrange an appointment with your clinician.
